SODIN was started by a group of Somali Men and women who have worked with multiple organizations in both national and international positions. This group felt they would make more impact working on everyday issues in their own indigenous surroundings at grassroots level. Coming from a country that already is at the bottom of the economic ladder and torn by many of years of conflict the team saw a lot that need to be done within their immediate eye’s reach. The world has signed up to achieve a set of development goals. Reaching these goals will require an extremely high level of commitment given the complex situation of Somalia and how far behind it falls in terms of development compared to the rest of the world.
